Well today, our little app is growing up. We're excited to announce that Purposely is now integrated with Slack 🎉 We’ve built the Purposely experience right into your Slack workspace. This means you can discover opportunities, offer your help, and share new opportunities with co-workers, all without ever opening up your browser. How cool is that?

Volunteer with a click

A few weeks ago we introduced our "Offer Help" functionality. It made the process of applying for a volunteer role easier than ever before. You simply click "Offer Help" and your contact details get sent directly to the nonprofit.

It's an entirely new take on applying to volunteer, and we're proud to have made an otherwise complicated experience that much easier. That same functionality drives the core of our Slack integration. We'll send you a personalized volunteer opportunity in your DMs where you can offer your help or let us know that the opportunity wasn't quite what you were looking for. We're always learning 📚

Inspired by you, handpicked by us

So how does each opportunity make it into your Slack DMs? With all the buzz around AI, machine learning, and quantum this and that, you might assume we sprinkle each of those into a highly trained algorithm that matches you with just the right opportunity 🤔

And well, part of that is true. We do make a pretty good guess about opportunities we think you'd really enjoy, and some of that is drive by an impressive algorithm.

But what really makes this whole machine hum are the people behind it. We personally review each match that our system suggests to make sure it's just the right one for you. And if it's not, it's easy to let us know so we can learn for next time.

It's just the beginning

The wonderful thing about beginnings is that what lies ahead is ripe with potential. We’re going to continue to make our Slack integration more useful so we can push forward on our mission to get more people to volunteer. And we know that not all teams use Slack, so there's plenty more we have planned in future releases.
