Quest Purpose Day💜: Case Study

Since our very first Purpose Day back in April we’ve been fortunate to work with a number of local Vancouver nonprofits to help them tackle high impact projects. With each Purpose Day we bring 20+ volunteers from local companies to work with a nonprofit. But what really make a Purpose Day standout is that we work closely with each nonprofit to learn about their specific needs and explore how we can help.

An Old Warehouse

Over the past few months we’ve developed a wonderful relationship with Quest Food Exchange, a nonprofit dedicated to disrupting the cycle of poverty through access to healthy and affordable food that is sourced sustainably. As we toured there office we noticed that their warehouse, which is essentially the heart of their operation, was in rough shape. According to Janice, their director of Food Logistics, no work had been done on the warehouse since they took it over. Needless to say, it really needed a fresh coat of paint to liven up the place!

So our team at Purposely did what we do best— we got to work and brought team members from Procurify and Salus, two companies that attended our previous Earth Day and Shoreline Cleanup events, to help make the space beautiful and fit with Quest’s branding.

Beautifying the Workplace

Aesthetics may seem like an afterthought to some, but the reality is, the environment around us plays an important role in making us feel comfortable and welcome in the space we work in.

We brought together 20 people from 2 Vancouver companies to help brighten up the warehouse team’s space. With a quick demonstration, people were off to the races dusting down the walls, painting with rollers and brushes, edging, and sweeping the floors after we wrapped up.

The team took about 4 hours to put on a couple coats of paint in the warehouse, and the results were outstanding!

An Event for all Skill Levels

We put a great deal of thought into ensuring our volunteer events provide an equal opportunity for volunteers, regardless of skill level. Most of the folks who joined us did not have any prior painting experience, but that was completely okay!  Anyone is able to lend a helping hand, and at Purposely, we make sure that rings true at each Purpose Day.

Stronger Teams

One of the best thing about these volunteer events is that since companies have moved to hybrid and remote models, some team members never get to meet each other in person. It was great to see people meeting for the first time and building strong team bonds, all while contributing to a truly meaningful cause.

We’re grateful for kind-hearted companies like Procurify and Salus joining us for another successful Purpose Day and helping out the Quest Food Exchange!
