The Impact of Virtual Volunteering

The rise of virtual volunteering has opened up a new realm of opportunities for individuals to make a meaningful impact on the causes they care about, both in their community and globally. While traditional volunteering continues to be a cornerstone of community engagement, there are certain limitations. Geographical constraints, busy schedules, and varying skill sets often limit the extent to which hinders our ability to volunteer.

Virtual volunteering presents a unique opportunity for both companies and nonprofits. It allows companies to engage their employees in collaborative volunteering experiences. Additionally, it opens doors for nonprofits to tap into volunteer groups that might otherwise be out of reach.

The Day

On August 21st, we were delighted to be a part of our largest virtual volunteer opportunity yet. Clio volunteered with GLOCAL, who supports and works with fellow Canadians in bringing about a more inclusive, transparent, accessible, and engaging democratic participation with a global understanding. 25 Clions offered their expertise in interview prep, resume tips, and career advice to over 25 youth!  Overall, it was so amazing to see folks from Clio and GLOCAL engage with one another in an impactful, honest, and supportive way.

The Impact

Creating an environment for youth to practice vital skills helped prepare them for the workforce in Canada and become more comfortable in an interview environment, whether that’s professionally or at school. We are so excited to see how GLOCAL’s youth puts this experience into practice!
