These past few weeks in Vancouver have brought summer with full force. Hot days, beautiful warm evenings, and lots of people outside at events. A couple weeks ago was another beautiful summer day; we were able to catch up with a couple of teams who were spending their day volunteering. We took photos of their teams and the work they were doing to help our local community.

Procurify

Procurify is the leading procurement and purchasing software that lets teams track, control, and analyze all business spending so they can scale faster. Based in Vancouver, their team jumped on an opportunity to work with the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre Society (VAFCS) this last Friday. VAFCS was looking to host a BBQ for their staff as a thank you but needed a team to help them with food prep, cooking, and cleanup.

Procurify found the opportunity using the new Teams function in the Purposely platform. They were able to create a team and invite team members. VAFCS's contact information was made available to them and they begun planning the event.

Thanks to all the volunteers, there were many hands to help with prepping, serving, and cleaning. They got right to work making salads, chopping up toppings for burgers and laying out the tables in the backyard area. They then cooked all kinds of food from burgers to fish to hot dogs and served it to the VAFCS staff. Their team enjoyed spending the day at VAFCS getting to know the staff and helping out where needed. As the day came to a close, they helped with the cleanup of the kitchen and backyard and putting away any extra food.

Jane.app

Jane.app is an online platform for health and wellness practitioners that makes it simple to book, chart, schedule, bill and get paid. They created a team using the new Teams feature and brought a group of eight staff out to Woodland Park in East Vancouver for a neighbourhood cleanup. They brought their own trash pickers and garbage bags and split into groups of two. In their groups, they scoured the park for garbage and trash, picking up everything they could find. One attendee even brought their four-month-old bernedoodle puppy which was a highlight for sure! The team finished cleaning the park and headed to Earnest Ice Cream for a well deserved treat.
